An orphanage (also children's home) is a residential institution initiated for the care of orphans – those children whose natural parents or immediate family members are deceased or otherwise unable or unwilling to take responsibility for them.Normally, Natural parents, and sometimes natural grandparents, are legally entitiled for supporting children, but in case of the absence of these or other relatives willing to care for the children, they become the responsibility of the state, and orphanages are one of the means for providing for their care, housing and education.

The society moved from a small apartement in the Haripur village into a bigger hired accommodation with much better facilities. They now have their own building that the children can call their own home. From a humble founding, Bal Sadan has covered great distances and is growing by leaps and bounds with the support of a large, public spirited and enthusiastic team of volunteers.
